Penetration Resistance and Split-Barrel Sampling

Course Synopsis:

This course consists of a portion of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Manual EM 1110-1-1804.  The quiz author is J. Cloyce Darnell, P.E., who has extensive experience in penetration resistance and soil sampling with the split-barrel sampler, as well as the engineering analysis of the resistance test results.  His projects using this method for determining soil engineering properties include foundations for industrial plants, runways, residential, commercial, education facilities, and high-rise condominiums.
