Course Synopsis:

Did you know?  Roadway intersections should be designed such that roadways intersect at right angles (90-degrees). Where constraints dictate, a 70-degree angle shall be the minimum angle for intersections in Georgia.

This course provides information on the elements of design for a GDOT project. This includes sight distances, horizontal alignments, vertical alignments, and superelevations. It is based on Georgia DOT Design Policy Manual version 2.0, revised 5/21/2002.

This course teaches the following specific engineering knowledge and skills regarding GDOT Elements of Design:

  • Definitions associated with elements of design  
  • Summary of
    • Sight distance
    • Horizontal and vertical alignment
