Course Synopsis:

Did you know? The use of a lesser design frequency event, such as a 100-yr storm, to assess hazards at critical locations where water can pond to appreciable depths is commonly referred to as a check storm or check event.

Pavement drainage requires consideration of surface drainage, gutter flow, and inlet capacity. The design of these elements is dependent on storm frequency and the allowable spread of storm water on the pavement surface. This course presents design guidance for the design of these elements.

Course Objectives:

This course teaches the following specific engineering knowledge and skills regarding Pavement Surface Drainage:

  • Introduction on surface drainage, gutter flow, and inlet capacity

  • Applications and methods used in pavement surface drainage
